Enough is Enough

On Monday’s “big news conference”, we again witnessed a lack of leadership from the Premier. After half a decade in power, he still has no concrete plan to deal with the incredible burden placed on the people of the province by Muskrat Falls. Following that lackluster display, I feel we have no choice but to reiterate our call for Premier Ball’s resignation.
I want you to know that this position does not come lightly for us. We take no jubilation in what we feel is a necessary action. However, it is an action that must take place for the betterment of this province and its people.
This government, under Premier Ball’s leadership, has shown that they have a complete lack of desire to be open, honest or transparent. We have seen so many examples of misrepresentation and a complete betrayal of the best interests of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians from this premier and his administration.
So many times in the past several months, we have seen instances where Premier Ball has shown that his loyalty lies with his party, before his people.
He showed it when he refused to remove a minister from the caucus after making insensitive remarks about indigenous people. He showed it when he allowed a minister to make a mockery of the House of Assembly with no repercussions for insulting other members.
It was displayed when he stood by and defended yet another minister for the unfair hiring at The Rooms, and then personally stepped in to give the same individual yet another partisan appointment. He also allowed Nalcor to offer a top contract to a former political staffer using the people’s money.
I could go on, but the fact is, this has to stop. As a people, we must decide that we will no longer allow this abuse of power to continue.
We are at a time in our history where we face a mounting danger that there will not be a future for our children or grandchildren in this province. At this juncture in our history, we cannot stand for the blatant misuse of the province’s resources and the back door deals any longer. We cannot tolerate partisan appointments, payout packages that we cannot afford, and we cannot continue to spend like there is no tomorrow just to win favor with our political friends.
We need true political reform in this province, and I believe we can accomplish it. NL Alliance is setting out to start a truly collaborative effort right across this province.
We want those who are passionate about the future of this province, to help us form a District Alliance in your area – that will work together to help highlight and find solutions to the problems in your district.
Representatives from every District Alliance in the province will then become part of the provincial NL Alliance Executive. They will join the current team and help build a bright future for every resident of Newfoundland and Labrador.
This isn’t about a party colour, it’s about a province’s future. Our vision for Newfoundland and Labrador is to have 40 dedicated individuals, elected to the House of Assembly, collaborating together and collectively making decisions through consensus that are in the best interest of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The time for action is now. We can’t keep doing things the same and expect different results. We have to be strong, work together and say Enough is Enough.
I invite you to go to… nlalliance.ca/EnoughIsEnough and let’s start working together for change.
The Time for Action is Now!
The current adversarial system that gives us nothing but a blame game and politicians making decisions in their own best interests, is not serving us as a people. We must take action. We must work together to have true collaboration to help solve this province’s problems together.
We are forming District Alliances all over this province. We want individuals to join together in your District to help bring issues forward facing your region and the province. Members from each District Alliance will then represent their district on the NL Alliance Provincial Executive to join the current team and know what true collaboration is all about.
We need your help! Watch the video above from NL Alliance Leader, Graydon Pelley to hear more about this initiative.
Some District Alliances are already started, so find out if there’s one in your area. If not, consider starting one and let’s start Working Together for Change.
